We are 10 days away from the Kickoff Classic at Salinas when the Cowboys host Atascadero on Thursday, Sept. 2.
This is the second time in three years Salinas has opened its season before anyone else. Two years ago it faced Hug High of Reno on Aug. 29, the earliest any team in the county has played a football game.
Salinas is 1-5-1 in its last seven season openers.
In 10 days, new volleyball coaches at North County and Alvarez will make their official debuts in non-league matches.
