I don't put much stock into preseason games.
But considering quarterback Alex Smith didn't have Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree or Vernon Davis in the lineup, he looked awful sharp in the 49ers first scoring drive against Minnesota.
Smith has the same offensive coordinator for the first time in six years. It will make a difference this fall in San Francisco.
How well Smith plays this year will dictate if the 49ers end a seven-year playoff drought.
