The Monterey Bay League will be classified as a 'B' League this year in football instead of an 'A' League. That's a fair spot.
You can't compare the MBL to the Tri-County Athletic League or West Catholic Athletic League. Plus the MBL is 1-4 in its last five playoff games.
The Mission Trail Athletic League will remain a 'C' League.
Of course, with the addition of a fifth division for football this fall, points won't be as big of a deal for teams that play in a 'B' or 'C' league.

Trying to see if we are awake out here Mr. Devine?
According to the CCS website, the MTAL will be a B league in 2009 with an average league classification index of 1.652. (The MBL has a LCI of 1.672.) The cut-off between being a B or a C league is still 1.50. The last time the MTAL was a C league was in 2006.
Also the B or C league classification will still have an impact on the play-offs even with the addition of the fifth division. Power points will still be used to calculate who makes the play-offs as well as seedings in the play-offs. If MTAL teams were in a C league they would accumulate fewer power points during the season, giving a weaker team in a B league the chance to get in ahead of them. (Based on the analysis done by the CCS regarding last years play-off had there been five divisions, neither King City nor Greenfield would have made the play-offs if the MTAL had been a C league. That is becasue if the MTAL been a C league all MTAL teams would have had at least 3 fewer power points since just showing up to play a B league opponent gets you 0.5 points, while games against C league opponents are worth 0 points.) And fewer power points will mean a lower seeding even if a team does get in.
Apparently I'm not awake. Lets try this. The MTAL should be a 'C' league based on its enrollment figures, because most of the teams in the MTAL will be playing in that fifth division, should they make the playoffs this fall.
The reason for that division was to make sure a team like Carmel doesn't play a power like Sacred Heart Cath. in the postseason.
