Xavier Nady is probably headed for season-ending elbow surgery.
The Yankees right fielder reinjured his right elbow in a rehab assignment and is expected to meet with the doctor that performed Tommy John surgery on him in 2001.
Pain in his right elbow on a throw on Thursday forced the former Salinas High slugger and Cal All-American out of a minor league game.
While it's not impossible for a baseball player to come back from two Tommy John surgeries, Nady's career as an outfielder could be in jeopardy, although he could still be a valuable designated hitter.
Nady, 30, set career highs in nearly every offensive category last season, hitting 25 home runs while driving in 97 runs and hitting .305 at Pittsburgh and New York.
