Former Seaside grad a Chief

Tony Curtis has landed in Kansas City.
The former Seaside star and Dallas Cowboys tight end signed a free agent contract with the Chiefs, where he will battle for playing time.
Curtis, the Herald's Athlete of the Year in 2001, spent four years in Dallas. In 2007, he caught three touchdown passes and recovered a fumble on an on-side kick that led to a game-winning field goal.
Playing time in Dallas would have been difficult with all-pro Jason Whitten. Plus Dallas spent a high draft pick on a tight end.
When Dallas didn't tender the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Curtis an offer, making him an unrestricted free agent, the writing was on the wall.
