Soledad-Watsonville boys soccer

Having postponed the initial highly anticipated meeting because of rain two weeks ago, the forecast for Friday nights game is heavy rain.
The difference in tonight's epic battle is the game will be held on Watsonville's synthetic turf, which means the field should have little effect on the play, regardless of conditions.
The two powers come into the first of two battles over the next 11 days a combined 21-2-5, with the  Wildcatz being the only unbeaten team in the Gabilan at 4-0-1.
Soledad's only loss in league and on the season came from defending Northern California Division II champion Alisal, who both teams face one more time.
Since coming back from Hawaii, the Wildcatz have outscored five league opponents 9-2 with Daniel Medina having a hand in four shutouts in goal.
The Aztecs are an attacking offense led by Alexis Ortiz and Ruben Esqueda, who have combined for 28 goals this winter, while Alex Sanchez scored the game winner in a 4-3 decision over San Benito.
Esqueda also leads the team in assists with 10, while Sanchez and Fabian Santano have combined for 13 assists.
As dominate as both teams have been over the last 20 years, neither has won a title since 2016.
