You can make the argument that the turning point in the Pirates season actually occurred last winter during a 1-17-1 campaign.
That one victory came in the season finale for Stevenson, providing a little momentum into the off-season.
What has transpired this year is a chase for perfection in the Santa Lucia Division at 10-0 with five games left in the season.
The 10 wins in league play is more than the previous five seasons combined for Stevenson, whose roster has just three seniors.
It certainly didn't hurt landing freshman Romi Marckx and newcomer Helen Yang, as the pair have combined for 23 goals this year.
The Pirates totaled 14 goals last year.
Marckx has produced 12 goals and a handful of assists while Yang has 11 goals. Maeve O'Connor, a holdover from last year, has added five goals and three assists.
Defensively, Stevenson has allowed just seven goals in league play - significantly down from the 48 it gave up in 14 league games last year.
Granted, a move to the Santa Lucia Division has helped revitalized the program. But that is exactly the reason for the creation of equity leagues.
