Few can remember the last time the Vikings dropped four straight games.
That's because North Salinas, who faces El Camino tonight, hasn't dropped more than four games in a season in three of the last five years.
But it did happen back in 2012. Still, it is rare. In fact, the program has suffered just two four-game losing streaks in head coach Darren Jackson's 19 seasons.
This is not the demise of a program that has made the postseason 17 of the last 18 years.
The four losses have come from four perennial powers that are a combined 35-11 -- three of which took part in the State Northern California divisional playoffs last year.
It hasn't helped that the Vikings leading scorer from last season has yet to play a game this year. That will alter any teams attack.
The 7-1 start to the season is a reminder of what North Salinas is capable off. The team went out of its comfort zone for a reason.
Chasing supremacy doesn't come without testing your talents.
