The momentum the Trojans generated from a strong non-league finish carried over into its Mission Division opener, stretching their winning streak to a season high four straight.
Now comes an early season mid-term as Alisal travels to face preseason favorite Salinas, who has already surpassed last year's entire win total.
During its four game winning streak, the Trojans held each opponent under 38 points, with each win being by 11 or more points.
Salinas is just 2-2 since running off five straight wins. But the losses have been to two teams that are a currently combined 22-4.
The Cowboys offense has centered around 5-10 sophomore Makenzi LaPorte, who has put together a handful of double-doubles this year.
Freshman Jenika Zurita continues to be the floor leader for Salinas, while senior Christina Chagnon has been outstanding on defense.
Mikaela Arista has evolved into the Trojans primarily scoring threat this season, with contributions coming from Dana Cima, Briana Mejia and Destiny Plascencia.
As defensive minded as Alisal is, it did put up 81 points in a preseason win. Salinas has scored 64 or more points in six of its eight wins.
