Former Salinas High and Hartnell College distance star Melena Grover has qualified for the 2020 Olympic Trials in the marathon.
Grover, an All-American at Hartnell and a Gabilan Division champion at Salinas in cross country, covered the 26.2 mile race in 2:44.21 at the California International Marathon in Sacramento.
Her average mile pace over the 26 plus mile extravaganza was faster than her high school pace over three miles.
The marathon trials will be held Feb. 29, 2020 in Atlanta. The top three will advance to the Olympic Games, which will be held on Tokyo, Japan
