A pair of former Hartnell College distances aces recently took part in the NCAA Division II cross country championships in Pittsburgh, PA.
Following up on earning all-region honors for the Alaska-Anchorage men's cross country team, Jorge Sanchez helped his squad to an eighth place finish at the national championships.
Sanchez, who prepped at Alvarez High, was clocked in 34:04.1 over the 6.2 mile loop. The senior was a Junior College All-American in track and cross country at Hartnell.
Ricky Esqueda also took part in the nationals for Western Colorado, clocking 34:18.6.
Last year the former San Benito standout won the Northern California cross country title for Hartnell, earning All-American honors at the state finals.
