Returning to competitive running as a 29-year-old mother in 2017 for Hartnell College, Arlene Diaz Leal has a scholarship to continue her career at CSU-Monterey Bay.
Diaz Leal earned all-conference honors in cross country in 2017 and 2018, helping Hartnell record the lowest score in Northern California history this past fall.
The distance ace also finished 19th overall at the state cross country championships, helping the Panthers to a second place team finish, the highest in school history.
Diaz Leal will step right in at CSUMB and become one of the teams top five runners. Her current marks would be among the best in Otters school history.
