Notre Dame basketball

The Spirits 3-0 start isn't a surprise. Neither is how they have dominated opponents, beating one team by 31 and another by 20.
The core of last year's Pacific Division title team was made up of sophomores. Chemistry aside, the fab four are unselfish players with one agenda -- proving they belong in the Gabilan Division.
Angela Leavitt was impressive in her debut last Tuesday with 18 points. The junior was competing in the state cross country championships three days earlier.
The teams top four scorers from last year are back, including Kelly Kinion and her nine plus point average, with Grace Briley and Mariah Schlapfer.
Most teams are happy with two options. Notre Dame has five with the emergence of sophomore Corrine Sargenti, who has also been a beast on the boards.
Granted the Spirits haven't faced world beaters, although one of the teams they defeated beat them twice last year.
Likely the first real test comes Tuesday when Notre Dame visits rival Salinas. But being a part of the Gabilan Division race is a realistic expectation.
