Matt Castaneda

Matt Castaneda was a bright spot in a somber season for the Willamette University football team, throwing for a college career high 1,654 yards this past fall.

The junior quarterback tossed 10 touchdown passes. Castaneda also rushed for a team high 279 yards and two touchdowns.

In three seasons at Willamette, Castaneda has thrown for 3,117 yards and 17 touchdowns, and has rushed for 671 yards and seven touchdowns.

As a senior at Salinas High, Castaneda shattered the single-season school record for passing yards (2,436) and touchdowns (29).

His passing yards record has since been broken by current Cowboys quarterback Carl Richardson.

Willamette teammate and former Stevenson defensive back Kendrick Perkins finished his senior season with 19 tackles, eight pass breakups and an interception.
