Cabrillo-MPC football

Saturday's game
Cabrillo (6-3) at MPC (5-4), 6 p.m.
The record that matters is the conference mark, where both teams sit at 3-2 going into their season finale.
The significance in this is the Lobos still have a shot at second place in the American Golden Coast Conference with a win and a Hartnell loss.
Based on head-to-head meetings, MPC would get the second spot based on its win over Hartnell two weeks ago, which is an automatic bowl bid.
Of course, two years ago four teams from the conference played in bowl games.
The Seahawks come into the game averaging over 35 points a game, having rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Quarterback Josh Barron has thrown for over 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns for Cabrillo, with its defense having recorded 22 turnovers this year.
MPC has run the ball effectively this year as well behind San Benito graduate Hunter Nye, who has rushed for over 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also has over 300 receiving yards.
Christopher Lubinsky needs a big game. Two weeks ago he threw for over 400 yards in the win over Hartnell. He has thrown for 2,157 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Isaiah Kearney has caught 40 passes for 800 yards this year for MPC while Caleb Countryman has turned 20 catches into a team high six touchdowns.
Raymond Wingate is among the state leaders in sacks for the Lobos with 10 while Dalton Lykins has 72 tackles and Denzel Hayes four interceptions.
