Volleyball playoffs

 The path in the postseason can be quick.
 It took one match to eliminate seven county teams from the Central Coast Section divisional rounds, leaving five still on the table -- four of which had first round byes.
 Gabilan Division champion and Division I top seed Salinas begins its quest towards a crown when it hosts Los Gatos on Tuesday.
 The Cowboys were undefeated in league and are 23-2 over their last 25 matches. Jennifer Foley has compiled 810 assists while Julie Foley and Kaila Uota have combined for nearly 1,000 digs.
 Balance at the net has made Salinas (27-5) difficult to contain as Savanna Maker, Christina Chagnon and Kylee Moore all have over 200 kills this season.
 Carmel earned the No. 1 seed in Division IV and will host Santa Cruz on Tuesday, in a rematch of a tournament match that the Padres swept back on Sept. 22.
 The Padres finished third in their first season in the Gabilan Division, relying on the strength of hitter Soana Laulotu, who has 315 kills, mainly off of sets from Emma Crabbe.
 Laulotu, a four-year starter, also leads Carmel in digs, along with Kristin Cardinalli. Karoline Ruiz has come on of late at the net.
 Seaside, the lone survivor in Saturday's opening round, will face Division IV No. 2 seed Harbor in the quarterfinals.
 Co-champions of the Mission Division, the Spartans posted a five-set decision over Mercy of San Francisco, their first postseason win since 2004.
 Jocelyn Hernandez and Sydney Johnson ignite the offense at the net for Seaside, relying on precise sets from Cecilia Reyes, while Aleah Jakubowsky has been the back bone in the back row.
 Notre Dame, who faces Anzar tonight, drew the top seed in Division V, where it has reached the State Northern California semifinals three of the last four years.
 Setter Spencer Hagenbuch has an arsenal of hitters at the net, starting with Meghan Amaral, Logan Riggenbach and Kennedy McDermott.
 Riggenbach and Aleaha Huihui-Martinez provide the Spirits with a presence in the back row with their prowess for picking up balls.
 Soledad is in the postseason for the first time in the programs 19 year history in Division III, where it will visit No. 3 seed Hillsdale.
 The Aztecs shattered the single-season school record for wins (15), finishing second in the Cypress Division behind Gilroy.
 It comes into the postseason having won five straight -- sweeping its last three opponents.
