While he didn't drop out of the sky, the Marina cross country standout opened some eyes by winning the Mission Trail Athletic League title last year.
Plascencia went on to finish ninth at the Central Coast Section Division IV finals, helping Marina earn the programs first ever state meet appearance in cross country.
