One of the longest running free football camps anywhere starts Monday with the annual Ron Johnson-Anthony Toney Football Camp. The camp will run through Thursday at 10 a.m. for ages 9-14 at Monterey Peninsula College.
Johnson and Toney, both of which played for the Philadelphia Eagles in the mid 1980’s, took over the camp from Herm Edwards five years ago, keeping a two-plus decade old tradition alive.
In addition, a second camp for ages 15-17 will be staged July 23-26 at Rabobank Stadium in Salinas.
Names that have come through the camp in the past include current Washington Redskins linebacker Mason Foster and Miami Dolphins quarterback David Fales.
