Girls sports recap

 What a run this past school season for Santa Catalina, who won four Mission Trail Athletic League team titles and two Central Coast Section divisional titles.
 The volleyball team duplicated its feat from 2016 by opening the season with 27 consecutive wins, reaching the State Northern California Division III semifinals.
 The softball program closed the season with 18 straight wins, finishing 21-1. Six years after pitching Santa Catalina to a CCS title, Alex Pingree guided the team to a section crown as the coach.
 The Cougars track and field program won their sixth straight MTAL title, with eight girls scoring points, most notably Laurel Wong.
 The junior defended her league and section titles in the pole vault, sailing a school and county record 13-feet-3, winning the state title, the first state track champion in the county since 2000.
 And the swimming team quietly went undefeated in dual meet competition en route to  capturing the final MTAL swim title, as the MTAL and MBL will seize to exist next season.
 Seaside turned to Jocelyn Hernandez to go undefeated in the Pacific Division in volleyball, while Jordan Olivares propelled the Spartans to an undefeated Gabilan Division basketball season.
 Behind San Jose State bound golfer Antonia Malate, Stevenson won another golf title. It also won the tennis title.
 Salinas won the MBL tennis title and shared a girls lacrosse title with Monterey. Speaking of the Dores, three sport standout Catie Montante won a CCS title in wrestling.
 As for individual honors, Kate Riordan shaved 1.5 seconds off her school record in the 300 low hurdles in her biggest race, running off with a CCS track title.
