Boys sports recap

Boys sports
Alisal is going to have to create some space in its gym, as it will hang a county high five new banners.
The Trojans proved last year's baseball title was no fluke, repeating the feat for the first time in school history.
The basketball team jumped from the Pacific Division to the Gabilan and promptly won its third straight league title behind Herald co MVP Josue Gil.
Alisal's cross country team brought their coach to tears after stunning a field at the Gabilan Division finals to take home the team title.
League titles in soccer are nothing new to Alisal. While it added another, the Trojans also went out and won the Northern California Division II title.
Soledad won its first Mission Trail Athletic League football title outright, and captured the league baseball title with a school record 17 game winning streak, reaching the CCS Division II finals.
Stevenson continued its dominance on the links with its 10th straight MTAL golf title. The school also won a tennis title and a swimming title.
Behind league MVP Keegan Forrester, Carmel extended its league winning streak in volleyball to 37 straight. Then it went out and won the programs first ever CCS Division III title.
The Padres turned to freshman and double-double machine JT Byrne to win a league basketball title. The school also shared a tennis team title.
Gonzales defended its MTAL titles in both wrestling and soccer, putting the school back on the map for its sports programs.
Behind league MVP Brett Reade, Salinas ended a 14-year losing streak in football to Palma, going undefeated in the Gabilan Division, capturing a CCS Division I title.
The Cowboys rattled off 10 straight wins, avenging one of their losses with a win over Milpitas in the section title game. Salinas also won league titles in tennis and soccer.
Speaking of section titles, Pacific Grove ran off with a CCS Division IV title in cross country. And Palma won its 16th straight Gabilan Division golf title.
Joey Burlison of Palma and George McNeely of Carmel went to the state golf championships for the second time, with Burlison finishing 22nd overall.
Alvarez's Matt Martinez was fifth in the state in wrestling at 181, while York School's Henry Blaul was a top 10 finisher in the state swimming finals in both the 200 IM and 100 backs.
