Former New Orleans Saints all-pro guard Carl Nicks will coach the offensive lineman this fall at Alvarez High.
Nicks, who won a Super Bowl ring with the Saints in 2009, was the highest paid offensive guard in the NFL when he signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012.
An injury ended his career after six seasons. Nicks was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 2017.
Nick was a three-sport standout at North Salinas, and a member of The Herald’s All-County football and basketball teams.
He earned All-American honors at Hartnell College, before going to Nebraska. He was drafted in the fifth round in 2008 by the Saints.
