If you dope these meets out, and some of us have, the Gabilan Division girls finals could come down to the final two or three events.
Notre Dame, who dropped two dual meets this spring, has a shot at unbeaten San Benito. But it will need to have a big enough lead going into the final event.
Using all of its ammunition for the first 15 events, the Spirits can not need a win in the final event to seize an upset.
The individual that gets my attention is Kate Riordan, who will be the favorite for Notre Dame in the 100 meters and 300 low hurdles, and a threat in the 200, which is minutes after the hurdles.
Monterey went undefeated in the girls division in the Pacific Division. But that does not translate to team titles at the league finals.
Just ask San Benito.
The Toreadores have two of the elite athletes in the Pacific Division in the sprints and jumps in Alex Guerrero and Jhailyn Bryant.
Watsonville has one of the top freshman distance runners in the section in Layla Ruiz, who will be the favorite in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200.
The Toreadores boys team will look for redemption against unbeaten Watsonville. Don't discount Gilroy as a sleeper team.
While sprinters Jordan Caliz and Azjani McGill, and distance ace Isaac Gensel will produce multiple points, it will be the fourth, fifth and sixths that decide this meet.
Two keys for the Toreadores is handling the stick in the 400 relay and getting production from a cast of unknowns in their bid to knock off Watsonville.
