Alisal baseball

While no worse than a share of its second straight Pacific Division title is wrapped up, the Trojans are chasing milestones, such as a school record for wins, and an extended postseason run.
Alisal, who has never won two straight league titles, set the single-season school record for wins last year with 19.
For that to occur or be surpassed this year, it would constitute the Trojans reaching the Central Coast Section Division I semifinals.
While no one is stunned by Alisal repeating the feat, how easily it came is a surprise. A title chase never really occurred.
Remember, the Trojans started Pacific Division play 0-2, then went out and rattled off 11 straight league wins behind the arms of Danny Villegas and Sal Lopez before falling to Seaside Wednesday.
And Alisal has produced timely hits all season, led by Villegas, Josiah Ramos, Eduardo Garcia and Kai Tovas.
Keep in mind the Trojans lost the league's MVP, four of its top five hitters and two starting hurlers from last year's CCS semifinal team to graduation.
Yet, the 11 straight league wins is a school record.
