Carmel-Pacific Grove softball

Central Coast Section Division II Quarterfinals
Saturday's game
No. 4 Pacific Grove (19-7) vs. No. 5 Carmel (15-6) at Salinas Sports Complex, 12:15 p.m.
All three games between the two Mission Trail Athletic League rivals were decided by two runs or less, with the Breakers taking two of three, including a 2-1 decision on May 3.
This is believed to be the first time these two peninsula rivals have faced each other in the postseason as both are chasing their first section titles.
Carmel has done its best to pitch around Danielle Pasquariello, walking her and hitting her twice in three games.
There is a reason for that, as Burlingame learned on Wednesday, as the 6-foot-1 right-handed hitter hit two homers, including a walk-off three run shot.
The Florida Atlantic University bound catcher is hitting over .600 on the season with 11 homers and 55 runs batted in.
The entire Pacific Grove lineup is dangerous as Vada Courtney and Lauren Coppla each have over 30 hits on the season, while Alana Henden has gotten hot in the second half of the season.
The Padres have table setters in the batting order as well with Jocelyne Bruno, Rachael Carroll and Anna Buzan.
All that being said, the first three games have been pitching battles between Pacific Grove's Parker Llantero and Carmel's combination of Jessica Pavloff and Jaclyn Hyles.
