Monterey-Central Catholic boys hoops

State Northern California Division III Playoffs
Wednesday's game
No. 13 Monterey (19-8) at No. 4 Central Catholic, Modesto (28-2), 7 p.m.
It's a tough draw for the Toreadores, who face a Central Catholic team that has rattled off 19 straight wins enroute to a SAC Joaquin Section Division IV title.
Over the last two years, the Raiders have fallen in the Northern California Division IV playoffs to Palma.
Monterey has got to find a way to contain 6-foot-3 Joshua Hamilton, who is averaging  21 points a game for Central Catholic.
The Raiders have a presence in the paint with 6-6 sophomore Nic Sani averaging nearly 11 points and 8.1 rebounds, while point guard Dayton Magana is dropping in 10.4 points a game.
The Toreadores are looking for a new lease on life after a 61-56 loss to Riordan in the Central  Coast Section Division III finals -- in which they were outscored 17-2 during a stretch in the fourth quarter.
The fab four of Mohammed Adam, Evans Charles, Tahjae Ordonio and Mohanid Adam produced all 56 points in last Saturday's loss.
The concern for Monterey all year continues to be depth. In the title game, just seven players got on the court. Look for Central Catholic to apply pressure defense and defend the perimeter.
