This was a good landing spot for Foster as the Redskins were thin at the inside linebacker position.
Despite leading the Bears in tackles in the preseason, the Seaside grad was unexpectedly released a week before the regular season in now what appears to be a cost-cutting move.
The Redskins just didn't add depth, they picked up a linebacker that has 343 tackles in his first four years in the NFL, all with Tampa.
The 6-foot-2, 242-pound Foster is just 26 years old.
The Redskins run a 3-4 defensive scheme, meaning Foster will return to an inside position, rather than man the middle like he was asked to do in Tampa.
Because Foster is one of seven linebackers on the Redskins roster, special teams may be an avenue for him to get on the field immediately.
The Redskins host the Eagles on Sunday.
