The former Salinas High slugger will likely end his career where it started after agreeing to a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres.
Drafted in 2000 in the second round by the Padres, Nady made his major league debut that season, singling in his first at bat.
Having spent all of last season between Kansas City and Colorado's Triple A affiliates, Nady's last major league game was in the World Series with the Giants.
The 35-year-old has been with 10 major league franchises, spending the first four years of his career with the Padres.
Having hit 101 career homers, Nady is a .270 career hitter, hitting 27 homers with 97 RBI in 2008 between Pittsburgh and the Yankees.
The former Cal All-American infielder has won World Series rings with the Yankees and Giants.
Nady will look to be a fourth outfielder and a reserve first baseman with the Padres.
Nady would appear to be a better fit in the American League as a DH. He's always been able to hit. But 10 of his 11 seasons have been in the National League.
