John Devine has been writing about high school sports in Monterey County since, well, practically since he was an athlete at King City in the days just after leather helmets. In PrepNation, John has even more in-depth analysis of the latest results and news he's brought to you in The Herald and in his weekly videos.

San Benito defeated Palma in dual match last week. This year Palma doesn't have a full team missing many of the higher weights and must forfeit many weights. While there is a difference in ability to place in dual (San benito better due to a complete team) and tournaments (Palma probably has more that will place higher and thus score higher in tournament format). They are probably pretty close in urnament format. I would have San benito higher. Palma will probably have maybe one that will make it to state but quite a few thatmaybe compete in consoltaion rounds of CCS. Gilroy just manhandled DelaSalle on Saturday in a dual match- they are probably #2 in the state when all ends.
