Salinas-Homestead volleyball

Central Coast Section Playoffs
Division I
Wednesday's match
No. 3 Salinas (22-9) vs. No. 2 Homestead (24-7) at Santa Clara High, 7:30 p.m.
The Cowboys are in the CCS Division I semifinals for the third straight year and fourth time in five years, having won it all in 2009.
Champions of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League's De Anza Division, the Mustangs have won 14 straight matches, sweeping Gunn in the quarterfinals of the Division I playoffs.
Senior outside hitter Morgan Robinson has recorded 380 kills for Homestead this fall while 6-foot-1 Casey Carroll has 323 kills.
Despite missing two of its best hitters at different times for a large portion of the season, Salinas still posted an undefeated league season for the second straight year.
Emily Cook has stepped up and asserted herself as the Cowboys primary target at the net along with Maddy Mandon and Raleigh McKinney.
Getting touches at the net on Homestead's two big guns is critical for Salinas in slowing that high-powered attack down.
