The Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League is meeting today with members of the Monterey Bay League and Mission Trail Athletic League to talk about a possible merger of leagues.
It would make sense for the SCCAL and MTAL to merge because the schools are all similar in size in terms of enrollment.
But that's unlikely to occur for the simple fact that King City and Greenfield have no interest in road trips to SLV or Scotts Valley.
If the SCCAL merges with anyone, it will be with the MBL, where three divisions will be created in an equity league format.
That might put more pressure on the MTAL to become a part of it.
But don't expect that anytime soon.
