An argument can be made that the Breakers are playing the best baseball of anyone in the MTAL right now.
The turning point came on March 7 when Pacific Grove rallied from a 5-1 deficit to defeat defending MTAL champion Carmel 6-5.
Not only did it snap a six-game losing streak to their biggest rivals, but it kept the Breakers from starting league play two games back. And it was Pacific Grove's first win of the year.
The Breakers (4-1) come into today's meeting with Soledad having won four straight MTAL games to remain tied at the top with Carmel, Stevenson and King City in the loss column.
Junior shortstop Kyle Czaplak has sizzled at the plate for the Breakers while Wes Carswell has driven in 10 runs in eight games.
Pacific Grove has been involved in five games decided by two runs or less, winning its last three.
