Not only does Carmel begin defense of its Mission Trail Athletic League volleyball title tonight hosting King City, it also opens the season with an 18-game league winning streak.
The Padres non-league season can be described as bumpy. I'm not sure a lot of those barriers have been cleared.
King City looked a little more fine-tuned in beating North Salinas and Notre Dame during the non-league season.
That being said, the Mustangs haven't beaten Carmel in two years, having dropped five straight matches to the Padres.
