Rising to the challenge

I needed one game to realize no one in the TCAL will present a challenge to Palma's supremacy.
Despite 10 new starters - five sophomores - the Chieftains played West Catholic Athletic League power St. Francis to a 7-7 tie, and were a 25-yard field goal away from winning the game.
Before suggesting St. Francis isn't a power this year, it shutout Oak Grove 24-0 last week. Oak Grove just handed San Benito a 34-13 defeat.
Granted, it's a long season and teams will improve.
But Palma's defense is outstanding - as good as its championship teams.
After two weeks, just two teams in the TCAL remain unbeaten.
I would not want to face the Chieftains in November when they come of age.
