Goodbye Don Nelson

Perhaps now this 15 year nightmare that Golden State Warriors fans have been in can finally end.
Don Nelson ruined this organization during his first tour of duty when he traded Chris Webber following a 50 win season, then abruptly resigned a few months later.
Sure he came back 12 years later to make amends, even guiding the Warriors to a playoff win three years ago. He even brought back a worn down Webber two years ago.
But other than drafting Stephen Curry, Nelson has done little to provide hope for the future.
What I don't get is why did the organization wait until a week before training camp starts to announce that Nelson wouldn't be coming back?
It might have cost you a free agent.
