I agree with York School distance ace James Palaniuk. Do not put too much into Thursday's Mission Trail Athletic League Center Meet at Toro Park.
No one asserted themselves at the start. As a result, the pace was slow until the hills. By the time he came down the final hill, it was a two-man race between Palaniuk and eventual champion Sam Hales of King City.
There will be three chasing a title in six weeks at the MTAL finals when reigning champion James Silvestri gets back into shape. Silvestri is a seasonal distance runner that does not run track in the spring.
As for the team title, the road to the perpetual trophy still goes through Carmel.
