Vallejo in rare company

Offensive lineman Elliott Vallejo will become the sixth individual from Monterey County to be a part of a Super Bowl teams 53-man roster when the Arizona Cardinals face Pittsburgh.
Vallejo, a Palma graduate, is a reserve offensive lineman for the Cardinals, who are going to their first ever Super Bowl.
Among those that competed in past Super Bowls from Monterey County include Monterey's Herm Edwards with the Eagles in 1980, Seaside's LeCharls McDaniel with the Redskins in 1982, Seaside's Ron Rivera with the Bears in 1985, North Salinas' Del Rodgers with the 49ers in 1989 and Palma's Chris Dalman with the 49ers in 1995.
Ironically, Edwards is the only one that doesn't have a Super Bowl ring among the five, which bolds well for Vallejo.
Former Monterey standout Maurice Mann was on Seattle's practice squad when it reached the Super Bowl in 2005.
