Changing of the guard?

This was suppose to be the year of new champions in basketball. And it still could.
Yet, with a third of the season completed, two-time MTAL champion Pacific Grove and two-time TCAL champion Palma are unbeaten and alone at the top of their respective leagues.
Surprised?
Maybe a little.
Palma is a cast of unknowns. But it has a roster that's 12-deep. Pacific Grove has seen the last two league MVP's graduate. It may have another in Brian Kiely.
As for the girls, three-time MBL champion Seaside is unbeaten, as is three-time MTAL champion Stevenson. And reigning TCAL and CCS Division I champion San Benito has won nine straight by an average of 24 points.
