Alisal and Alvarez are both off to 7-0 starts in boys basketball.
Impressive, without a doubt. In fact, it's the best start in Alvarez school history.
Yet, the team that reminds me of last years' North Salinas squad, which rose from the aches with an 18-game improvement, is Salinas.
The Cowboys are 5-1 and littered with unheralded players.
Last winter North Salinas started 6-1, lost its best player and then ran off nine straight wins.
The Cowboys have that potential and personnel and are Palma's biggest threat in the TCAL.
