Salinas gave North Salinas athletic director Jean Ashen a surprise 50th birthday party before Thursday's volleyball match.
Then the Cowboys went out and beat North Salinas in three games, sweeping the season series for the ninth straight year.
For the first time since moving into the Tri-County Athletic League, Salinas is 7-0 in league play. It has the best player in the county in Sarah Reams and an attack that just keeps coming at you.
While the team is confident, it's far from arrogant. Attitude goes along ways in taking the next step.
