What I like about Santa Catalina is who do you stop?
Sure, 6-foot-3 Michelle Briggs is an enforcer in the middle. And Carmel did a nice job in neutralizing her Thursday.
But then came outside hitters Taylor Fox and Shelby Carroll. Oh, and sophomore Sage Wright doesn't play like a deer-in-the-headlights freshman anymore.
Of course, the team revolves around four-year starter Clare Bolton. It's not a coincidence that when the Cougars changed to a 5-1 offense with Bolton as the primary setter, they haven't lost since.
