It was an atmosphere not seen in a long time at Salinas.
Players parading around the field, seeking out members of the student body to celebrate a win.
Forgive them for relishing the moment.
No, it wasn't a playoff game. But it's as close as the Cowboys have been in six years.
And one more win will likely put Salinas back in the postseason.
Salinas made plays when it needed to, converting eight times on third down, two times on fourth down. It ran the ball well with Alvin Jelks. And when Alisal put eight in the box, Salinas didn't hesitate to put the ball in the air.
More steps still need to be taken before talking playoffs. But this was a big leap forward.
