The first thought that came to mind after Palma's come-from-behind win over North Salinas Friday was --- will it have anything left for Gilroy the following week?
This was a physical and emotional battle. The hitting was fierce. Both teams will feel it Saturday.
The second thought was how is Palma going to stop Gilroy's potent passing attack when North Salinas, who isn't regarded as a passing threat, completed 8-of-14 passes for over 100 yards?
Granted, Palma keyed on the run, which helped open the Vikings passing attack. And when it mattered, the Chieftains defensive backs came up big, particularly Bruce Taylor -- no relation to former 49ers cornerback Bruce Taylor.
But for next Friday's battle with unbeaten Gilroy to be a game, Palma is going to have to disrupt the timing of that dynamic offense or it's going to be a long night.
