49ers firing

Not that I agree with a move that has desperation written all over it, but it made sense to fire Mike Nolan on Monday.
The 49ers have Seattle coming to The Stick on Sunday -- a bad Seattle team I might add.
Interim coach Mike Singletary has a shot at getting a win in his debut and the 49ers can feel good about themselves going into a bye week.
But keep in mind that it was Nolan who hired Singletary. And this defense has not performed like expected. That's on Singletary.
It's not that the players weren't playing hard for Nolan. They just aren't very disciplined. And that starts with the entire coaching staff.
I will say this. Look for Singletary to make his mark immediately by explaining to offensive coordinator Mike Martz to get the freaking ball to tailback Frank Gore.
It's been a joke how Gore, the best offensive threat -- make that the only offensive threat the 49ers have -- has been used in the last two games.
Nolan won 18 games over three and a half seasons. By comparison, New England won 18 games last season.
