mbl softball

Finally, the Monterey Bay League kicks off its softball season.
Actually the league probably did it the right way, waiting until after the two-week Easter Break to start league play.
As for predictions.....
1. North County: Yeah, I know four-year starting pitcher Melissa Decker is out for at least two more weeks with an illness. But this team is deep enough to hang on until she returns to take them to a title.
2. Monterey: The Toreadores appeared to have found their stroke at the plate prior to taking an 11-day break from game play. Sarah Hoag will keep them in games while the offense is good enough to catapult Monterey to a title.
3. Watsonville: Graduation depleted the MBL champions. But writing off the Wildcatz would be a bigger error than bobbling a ball.
4. Seaside: Each year the Spartans look like contenders before the Easter Break and then fall a part in April.
5. Monte Vista: Is you're looking for a sleeper in the MBL, the Mustangs will knock someone off their perch before the year is up.
6. Pajaro Valley: Just a lot of growing pains for a program just in its second year.
