Saturday's game
Stevenson (0-0) at Webb (1-1), 1 p.m.
Nothing like a flight for a road trip as the Pirates boarded a plane for southern California to face a Webb squad, who already has two games under its belt.
The Gauls opened their season on August 23, using a three-touchdown effort from quarterback Ethan Caldecott to secure a 19-7 win over Excelsior Charter, before falling to Fairmont Prep.
Last year Webb started the year 3-0, including a 42-20 win over Stevenson, finishing with a 7-3 mark on the season, holding five teams to a touchdown or less.
The Pirates rebounded from an 0-3 start last season to go 4-2 in the Santa Lucia Division, with Dylan Santos throwing for nearly 1,300 yards.
Santos has a year of seasoning under his belt, and a pair of returning receivers in Evan Johnson and Connor Cosand. There will be no tailback by committee this year with Tyler Olson returning.
Webb struggled to run the ball in its opener, managing 35 yards on the ground. It produced just eight points in last week's 28-point loss.
