Since allowing two runs in his minor league debut for the Chicago Cubs Class A affiliate in Eugene, Oregon, Ryan Jensen has given up just one run in his last 11 innings of work.
The former Salinas High right-handed hurler has started six games for Eugene, striking out 19 hitters in 12 innings of work.
The Cubs No. 1 overall pick out of Fresno State in last June's draft, Jensen sports a 2.25 earned run average.
Blessed with a fastball that touches 100 mph, Jensen was 12-1 with 107 strikeouts in 100 innings of work at Fresno State, earning the school's Male Athlete of the Year award.
A second team NCAA All-American last year, Jensen was a three-sport standout at Salinas, earning a spot on The Herald's all-county football and baseball teams.
