Monte Vista-North County football

Friday's game
Monte Vista (0-0) at North County (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
A stadium light malfunction forced the Mustangs to cancel their opener last Friday with Sobrato. The game will not be made up.
While North County's offense sparkled in its opener, it was two defensive stops, including a turnover in the fourth quarter that propelled them to a 28-20 win over North Salinas.
Monte Vista has dominated its last five meetings with the Condors, outscoring them 154-31, posting a 42-7 win in 2017.
Dating back to last season, North County has its first two-game winning streak since 2016. The win was also its third straight home win, which hasn't occurred since 2010.
Brandon Ducusin and Julian Raya both scored a pair of touchdowns on the ground for the Condors, who are now 13-0 when scoring 21 or more points in the Sean Gomes era.
After an 0-3 start last year, Monte Vista went 5-2 to return to the playoffs, falling in the final minute to Monterey. The core of its skilled players, though, from last year have graduated.
