Michael Armstead was named the Pioneer Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the University of San Diego football team.
The former Monterey High and Monterey Peninsula College receiver ran back six kickoffs for 183 yards and one punt for 38 yards in the season opener. The speedster also caught one pass for 22 yards.
A preseason all-PFC selection, Armstead has caught 25 passes for 575 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games for the Toreros.
The senior has over 1,000 yards in kickoff returns and is averaging 37.5 yards each time he touches the ball on a punt.
Armstead caught 95 passes for nearly 1,700 yards and 16 touchdowns in two seasons at MPC, and was an all-league defensive back at Monterey
