Herm Edwards

Arizona State football coach Herm Edwards was named the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week for last weeks performance against then 18th ranked Michigan State.

Edwards, who got the Sun Devils off to a 3-0 start for the second straight year and nationally ranked, will be placed in a pool with other weekly winners for the Dodd Coach of the Year.

Last week's win was the first road win against a nationally ranked team for Arizona State since 1997. It was also the programs fifth straight non-conference win against a ranked opponent.

Arizona State's Academic Progress Rate, which measures a programs success in the classroom year over year, is one of the highest in the nation at 980.

A former Monterey High and MPC defensive back, Edwards spent nearly three decades in the NFL as a player and coach. He returned to coaching last year after a 10-year absence.
