 Shamir Rey and his 18 touchdown passes are back for Mitty, who reached the Central Coast Section Division I semifinals last year.
 The senior quarterback has one of his favorite targets returning in Reymello Murphy, who caught six touchdowns.
 Palma snapped a seven game losing streak to teams from the West Catholic Athletic League last fall with a win over Sacred Heart Cathedral.
 The last time Palma and the Monarchs faced each other was in the 2013 CCS playoffs, where Mitty rolled to a 21-0 win.
 Palma beat them in the 2006 Division I semifinals and defeated Mitty for the 2002 CCS Division I title.
 Deciding on a starting quarterback wasn't resolved as of last week's scrimmage. Handing the ball to tailback Anthony Villegas should be a priority, especially with Palma's huge offensive line.
 Yet, at some point you have to take advantage of a talented receiving core that includes Micah Olivas and his 15 touchdown catches, as well as Jon Jon Berring and J.T. Amaral.
